- width 7cm, 2 3/4 in
rectangular, the gold cagework mounts chased with flowers on a wavy ground and enclosing black lacquer panels decorated with rocky landscapes and leafy plants, gold-lined, the lining with maker's mark rubbed, charge marks of Antoine Leschaudel and date letter for 1750, the mounts with maker's mark J[?][?], partial date letter and discharge of Eloi Brichard, Paris, 1750-1756
Condition
An elegant box. Lacquer in very good condition. Both right side of mount on lid and base look as though they previously slid out but have now been discreetly fastened with pins and glue. Lining has light pricking throughout as though box had been used to store pins.
