A pair of Italian painted faux marbre, giltwood and gilded tôle candelabra, Venetian mid 18th century

each with a pricket and foliate tôle corona above a faceted stem applied with faux marbre bosses, the whole carved with leaves, tasselled lambrequins, flowers and foliage on a stippled ground; restorations and gilding on feet missing

In overall good conserved condition. The gilding is slightly darker and more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Very attractive detail to carving. Old very minor marks, chips and scratches commensurate with age. There is evidence of old very minor worm which appears to be no longer active. There are some hairline and other cracks commensurate with age, but these do not detract from the piece. All feet have restored breaks and restoration to triangular section on stem above flared base, but these has been well executed. Some retouching to the gilding. There is a vertical crack down the middle of the stem of one, which requires filling. There is a small section of gilded tôle missing from the top right side of one and there is a small hole in two of the tôle panels surrounding the pricket. Some tôle leaves below are slightly bent but this is hardly noticeable and does not detract from the piece.
