Description

  • 31cm. 12in. high
with twelve engraved and hand-painted gores, inscribed in two cartouches Nova et integra universi Orbis descriptio and LUGDUNI execudebat Gulielmus Nicolai, Belga prope S Antonium, 1603, card meridian, engraved horizon paper with calendar and zodiacal signes, the ebonised fruitwood stand with four turned supports and bun feet

Condition

In generally good restored condition, meridian probably replaced, horizon paper possibly replaced, some restoration to globe at the north pole but gores generally good. Stand ebonising rubbed back to warm colour.
