Description

  • 73cm. 28¾in. high
6½-inch restored enamel dial with centre seconds, bell striking movement with pin wheel escapement mounted on the backplate, silk suspension and beat adjustment on the crutch, outside count wheel, the case carved with rock and a waterfall and surmounted by a finely chased ormolu group of Venus and Cupid, the stepped bow-ended plinth applied with a plaque, mask and anthemion mounts, on toupee feet

Condition

Enamel dial has been restored and over-painted with later arabic numerals, hands replaced. Movement is complete and appears to retain the original wheel work throughout, but would benefit from a clean. The case with good original gilding, some rubbing to the figures and a mark to the left upper arm of Venus, minor chips to the marble plinths and some mounts loose. With pendulum but no winder.
