Catalogue Note
Les incrustations d'ébène et de laiton en forme de losanges sont si caractéristiques du travail de Jean-Joseph Chapuis (1765-1864) qu'elles tiennent lieu ici de signature. Des incrustations semblables figurent notamment sur une console estampillée de l'ébéniste, vendue chez Sotheby's à New York, le 28 mars 1992, lot 245, et sur une commode, vendue chez Tajan à Paris, le 17 décembre 2003, lot 114.
