La manufacture de Sèvres commence dès 1763 la production de vases et gobelets spécifiquement destinés à recevoir une garniture en bronze doré. entre 1765 et 1775, plus d'une centaine de ces vases sont vendus pour la plupart à des marchands-merciers : Dulac, Poirier et Daguerre. Un vase identique, d'une garniture de trois a été vendu chez Sotheby's à Paris, le 9 avril 2008, lot 119.
