Condition
Dial with small chip, which is now with some white paint. Ormolu with rubbing and minor scattered surface holes in areas - probably inherent to the piece- oxidation and surface dirt. One trumpet broken off, the other detached, flag also detached from putto's hand. Top of clock case with some holes; possibly lacking decoration. In otherwise good condition.

Catalogue Note
An ormolu mantel clock of this model, but with a white marble base, is illustrated Jean-Dominique Augarde, Les Ouvries du Temps, Genève, 1996, p. 308, fig. 234. This clock is surmounted with a standing putto holding a banner and a wreath that, as the drill holes to the top of the clock case indicate, almost certainly decorated the lot offered here.
