Catalogue Note

In the Salon of 1844 Maindron exhibited the marble statue of Velléda he had completed for the Ministry of the Interior for the Jardin de Luxembourg, where it remains.  A plaster model presently in the Musée D'Angers was shown at the 1839 Salon, and another made for the Tuileries is now in the Louvre.
