Catalogue Note
This terracotta was previously incorrectly identified with Dumont's model exhibited at the Salon of 1797 and the Exposition Centennale de 1900. However, Dumont's original sculpture was in fact sold in Paris from the collection of Hervé Chayette, Drouot , 24 April 1989, lot 131 and is now in a private collection in London.
