Both with standard surface abrasions, losses, and chipping throughout. Both with some restorations to drapery. Saint on right: proper left hand with losses, loss to sleeve on proper right hand, loss to one foot of putto, base. Area above base cracked and repaired (through lower drapery). Saint on left: loss to proper right hand, one arm of putto, part of wing. Crack around edge of drapery on base. Both: surface applied with pigment and a matte varnish. Stable and attractive.

St. Romuald was a Benedictine monk (circa 952-1027) whose attributes were the skull and the crutch (which was presumably in this figure's left hand). St. Petronius was Bishop of Bologna and may be identified by the open book and child holding the mitre.
