Description

  • bloodstone seals possibly by Charles Boully, Paris.  Together with a silver-gilt and rose quartz column-seal topped by a cockerel, base with arms
  • Gold, Amethyst, Carnelian, Bloodstone, Rubies, Sardonyx
  • heights 2 3/8 in to 4in.
  • 6cm, 10.2cm
comprising: a fluted purpurine seal with chased gold base and amethyst matrix, a green aventurine seal, the gold base chased with stiff leaf, carnelian matrix carved with military device, and two French bloodstone seals with chased gold bases- one set with cabochon rubies and plain sardonyx matrix, the other with leaf-chased gold base engraved with arms

Provenance

The arms on the rose quartz seal are those of Richter of Basel.

The arms on the second bloodstone seal are those of Meyendoff d'uexkull of Courland, created barons in 1679.
