the circular dish and stepped domed cover applied with borders of lozenges spaced by trellis and mounted with square lapis lazuli stones, the cover engraved with contemporary arms under a foliate mantle, conforming circular stand with wide border engraved with matching arms

Condition

some light scratches throughout, marks on cover partly rubbed, cover with some minor salt stains, otherwise good condition

A period photograph featuring an example of this entree dish, cover and stand is illustrated in Werner J. Schweiger, Wiener Werkstatte, design in Vienna, 1903-1932, p. 57.  A matching bread tray in the Asenbaum Collection was exhibited at the Neue Gallery, New York (17 October 2003-15 February 2004) and at the Kunsthistorische Museum, Vienna (11 November 2004-13 March 2005) in conunction with the exhibition Viennese Silver • Modern Design 1780-1918, and is illustrated in associated exhibition catalotue, item 133, p. 239.
