Catalogue Note
Roberts' intimate and quiet still lifes are homage to the great French exponent of still lifes, Chardin. By choosing simple, everyday household items, fruit and a vase of flowers, he harkens back to the simple and spartan life he led in Montreal in the late 1940s.
