Catalogue Note
Pilot has the distinction of having been invited to participate in the first Group of Seven show in 1920. Influenced by his step-father Maurice Cullen and J.W. Morrice as well as his studies in France he developed an impressionist style of painting.
Here, Pilot shows his predilection for impressionism while simultaneously capturing the realism of the topography of La Malbaie, Quebec. Using muted colours to emphasize the overcast weather and steel-grey colour of the water.
