Condition

This work has not been examined out of the frame. It appears to be in very good condition. The paper is yellowed. There is some buckling throughout which is probably due to the paper having been glued down to the mat.

Catalogue Note

This watercolour was painted in 1954, the year that Borduas held his first exhibition in January in New York.  The show received considerable attention, there and in Canada.
