Catalogue Note
This s a portrait of the artist's nephew, Jacques, the son of Suzor-Côté's favourite sister, Alice, who married in 1895. The artist was very attached to this young man who had an international career as a tenor under the stage name Jacques Gérard. Suzor-Côté did this fine pastel in 1915 when Jacques was a teenager.
