Catalogue Note
- Including an extremely rare pillar-molded quart bar decanter.
Attributed to the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, possibly Bakewell, Pears & Co., 1850 – 1870.
In creamy opaque white and black amethyst, of conical form, the sides with eight ribs, with applied neck ring and protruding neck lip, fitted with probably the original tinwear and cork stopper.
Overall height with stopper: 11 ¾ in.
Height of decanter: 10 ½ in.
Catalogue note: The Bakewell, Pears & Co. catalogue of 1868 illustrates the firm's use of the concave neck ring seen on this recently discovered decanter. Page 7 of the catalogue's price list includes pint and quart "Pillar, Cone shape" under the "Decanters" heading. The quart size was offered at $16.00 per dozen.
A nearly identical decanter of slightly smaller size sold at Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates auction, September 26, 2009, Lot 167. (Sold for $6,900.)

The first of vase form with eight ribs, fitted with a tinwear and cork stopper. The second of conical form with eight ribs.

One pillar-molded with eight ribs and neck ring, now fitted with a tinwear, cork and pink and white marble stopper. One with lower section having eight facets, fitted with a tinwear, cork and orange, yellow, and white marble stopper. One with oval and arch-panel sides, fitted with a tinwear, cork and red, white, and blue marble stopper. One with oval and arch faceted sides fitted with a faceted glass stopper.
Overall heights: 11 ¼ - 12 7/8 in.

Each of flared form in twisted loop pattern, and faceted stem on a square base.

Each with fluted sides on hexagonal bases.

- A pair of cobalt blue, pillar-molded, and pressed Block and Punty vases.

Each with faceted sides in "thumbprint" design, with faceted baluster stem, and hexagonal flared base.

With flared-faceted candle cup baluster stem and hexagonal base.

- A rare pair of massive amber blown and molded vases.
Each of urn form, with slightly swirled, fluted sides and folded-over rim. The baluster stem below on a circular disk. The undersides with distinct rough pontil marks. One with repair to circular disk base, the disk once broken on one side into three pieces.
