- Height 33 in. by Width 31 in.
a swell-bodied form with applied sheet copper feathered headdress, bow with wire 'string', applied ring earrings; traces of original gilding along the ribs of the feathers, under the earrings, under the skirt, overall weathered surface, D-ring soldered on one side for hanging purposes, solder fills rod base, where vertical rod was inserted.
This work was formerly in the esteemed collection of Dione Guffey Kenzer, one of New York City's most prominent collectors from the 1950s to the 1970s. After attending the Chicago Art Institute, Dione came to New York in 1950 and quickly became the first Art Editor for the prominent advertising firm of J. Walter Thompson. Along with then firm president, Norman Strouse, she was responsible for amassing the firm's art collection. In 1956, she married Myron Kenzer and the couple became close friends with many collectors and artists, including Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, while simultaneously amassing an intelligent and important personal collection that revealed an uncanny sense for artistic value.
