Condition

The candle sockets and bobeches are possibly replaced. The stand is companied with a later turned brass finial that is in the "parts box."

Catalogue Note

This stand relates closely to an example at Winterthur Museum. Several stands with related legs and feet survive with the mark of brazier and gunsmith Benjamin Gerrish (1686-1750).1 Similar stands were sold at Sotheby's, New York, The Collection Of Mr. And Mrs. Lammot Du Pont Copeland, January 19, 2002, sale no. 7757, Lot 31 for $75,500 and lot 32 for $87,000.
