Description
- Jean Prouvé
- A Rare Dining Table, Variant Model No. 502
- oak and lacquered steel
Provenance
Galerie de Beyrie, New York, 1998
Condition
Overall in very good condition. The top surface of the table with very shallow surface scratches. With evidence of minor and well executed restoration completed prior to the present owners purchase. With two very small areas of infill to the edge of the table, measuring approximately one inch in length, which have been sensitively undertaken. The top appears to have been cleaned. The feet with some minor nicks and dings, consistent with age and use. The painted crossbars with some minor chips and unevenness to the painted surface. Possibly repainted. All original hardware with the exception of the screws that attach the top to the base, which have been replaced with modern screws.
The present example is distinguished as a variant of the Model 502 table because the full length of the cross stretcher is comprised of two cylinders, rather than the standard single cylinder.
