Condition

This window was recently de-installed from its historic residential interior, and was cleaned and stabilized by a professional studio specializing in Tiffany window conservation. The window is structurally sound. There are approximately 17 cracks to the glass tiles dispersed throughout the window panel. Many of these cracks were stabilized with Hextal (an archival clear resin proven not to discolor over time). The window still retains a very old painted wood frame (which appears to date from its original installation in Overcliff). This painted frame shows considerable wear, losses and some seam separations at the corners consistent with age. The reinforcement bars on the front of the window appear to be original. With considerable select plating on the reverse. The window displays exceptional early artistic glass, including mottled, intensely striated, and vigorous drapery glass. The glass is far more vibrant and displays greater artistic nuances than seen in the catalogue illustrations. The window presents beautifully in person with great visual interest and depth, and would make a stunning installation. This window is accompanied by a custom-designed light box, which will be available to the successful buyer.
