Catalogue Note

"Art is a stream that must flow.  Seen from a distance it may always look much the same.  Still, even as a stream of live water, its body is being constantly organically renewed.  And the activity of its surface flotations, like the leaves, twigs and inserts on the surface of a stream, is an indication of its vitality: when the same surface flotations remain overlong in view, when their movement is sluggish, it is very unlikely that the water is healthy."  James Johnson Sweeney
