Description

  • gilt metal, lapis lazuli, citrine, enamel and leather lining/mirror
The rectangular case engraved in the 'Indien' style with birds, a tiger hunting a gazelle, bulls fighting and gentleman riding camels to a foliate motif background, the thumb piece of carved lapis lazuli inset with a cabochon citrine, opening to reveal a mirror with five comparments, possibly later, measurements approximately length 153mm, width 113mm, depth 22mm, signed Cartier.

Condition

Gilt metal case. Enamel with some losses, possible touches of repair. Weighing approximately 485.2 grams. Slight discolouration to gilt metal at corners, scratches consistent with wear. Lapis lazuli clasp with small nicks to edges. Leather interior slightly discoloured, lid of compartment damaged at hinge. Mirror with slight water damage. In good condition.
