Description

  • 84.5cm. high, 185cm. wide, 57cm. deep; 2ft.9¼in., 6ft.¾in., 1ft.10½in.
the inside of the lid decorated with reclining female nude figures fanning a seated king on his throne, with an iron handle on each side, on later flattened bun feet

Condition

Pitting and restoration especially to the top and some replacements especially along the front edge commensurate with age and normal usage. Hairline cracks and cracks generally commensurate with age. There is evidence of engraving along rear border and sides at the top but this has now faded. Decoration internally in good order on underside of lid. The candlebox is now missing. The section of the lockplate which would have been in the lid is now missing, hence the piece of replaced wood. In otherwise good original condition.
