A fine and rare ormolu and white marble mantel clock, Genuée, Paris, circa 1780

6¼-inch enamel dial with asymmetrical winding holes and signed Genuée, Paris, the bell striking movement with anchor escapement and silk suspension, star-cut outside count wheel striking on a bell, the drum mounted beside a figure of Louis XVI and flanked by two seated manacled figures, to the centre a painted coat of arms of Carl Theodore, Elector of Bavaria within a laurel surround, the breakfront plinth with rosette and scroll mounts, on beaded feet

Dial has chips and old repairs around the winding holes, old repair at III, other old minor repairs and hair cracks to the edge, good original engraved hands. Movement is much in need of a clean but appears to retain the original wheelwork throughout. Case in generally good condition throught, retainingthe original gilding, a few minor edge chips to the marble. With a winder but no pendulum.
