Description

  • Clock 113cm. 44½in. high; Bracket 41cm. 16in. high
10-inch twenty-four piece enamel cartouche dial signed on a plaque below Charles Gosselin A Lillebonne, the five pillar movement with replaced Brocot escapement and steel suspension, outside count wheel striking on a bell, the case surmounted by a seated figure of Minerva above finely engraved foliate inlay and floral and foliate mounts, the door set with a figure of Justice seated with a dog; together with a conforming bracket

Condition

Dial has chips to II and IIII and hair cracks to XII, III and IX. Movement has replaced escapement and is much in need of a clean, spring lacking from sriking fly, replaced striking hammer detached but we have it. Case has some losses to inlay and some lifting of stringing to the rear, right side of cresting detached but we have it, mounts retain their original gilding. Bracket much as the case with some minor losses and lifting, sheet mouldings detached but we have them. With replaced pendulum, 2 winders and a case key.
