Description

  • 69cm. high, 114cm. wide, 34cm. deep; 2ft. 3¼in., 3ft. 9in., 1ft. 1¼in.

Condition

Very good overall condition. Later angle brackets to seat rails. Old marks and scratches consistent with age. One small repair to one anthemion panel. On one there are breaks to the top of both left hand legs and losses to one anthemion. The other seat has similar breaks and losses. The upholstery is faded and worn. They are a lovely colour.

Catalogue Note

The present stools share the same form of legs to those on a pair of armchairs and a sofa, attributed to Mayhew and Ince, sold Christie's London, 3 July 1997, lots 47 and 48. A Further suite of furniture attributed to Mayhew and Ince which was supplied to George Weller-Poley and shares a very similar distinctive foliate capital heading its legs, sold in the same sale, lot 21.
