Condition

Old marks, chips and scratches generally as visible from photograph and water stains to the top. There are construction cracks to the joints which can easily be filled. The mouldings on the inside of two legs on one are missing. There are losses to the gilding, especially to the inside of the legs generally as visible from photograph. The tablets in the centre of the frieze have been strengthened on both and one has a crack which would benefit from being filled. The gilding has been rubbed in places, especially on the zig-zag frieze and will need some attention. An attractive model in need of some attention.

Catalogue Note

The demi-lune form of these tables and the white and gilt colour scheme and square tapring legs are all typical features of Neapolitan console tables produced towards the latter part of the 18th century.
