Provenance
Inherited by the 9th Earl of Albemarle and used in the dining room of his home in Woodbridge, Suffolk; and, by tradition, by descent in the family since their commission in the early 19th Century.
Condition
Overall in good condition. Some minor losses to decoration throughout consistent with age and use. As stated in the cataloguing one chair reduced in height. Chair 1: this chair has a small repaired break to the top of one arm. Chair 2: Loose joints and a small repair to the back of the central u- shaped splat. Chair 3: The u-shaped splat is broken adjacent to the join with the central splat and there are losses to timbers. Left hand arm cracked. Chair 4: the u-shaped splat is cracked top right hand side. Caning torn on back Chair 5: Old breaks to back and arm, caning torn. Chair 6: reduced in height. Breaks to top right hand corner of back, caning torn.
