- MAHOGANY (Mahogany, Caribbean/West India)
- 73.5cm. high, 130cm. diam.; 2ft. 5in., 4ft. 3in.
in the manner of Marsh and Taham, with a circular calamander crossbanded tilt-top
Condition
Overall good condition. The top has small patch and a slight warp. Minor losses to mouldings around the top edge. Minor shrinkage cracks to the frieze. Feet with traces of parcel gilding. Feet rather scuffed. Top slightly wobbly. One toe has been chipped off a while ago. General old marks and scratches. A very attractive table. Nice colour and patination.

Catalogue Note
The present table with its distinctive reeding to the top and base relates to a group of furniture some of which share these features, supplied to the Whitbread family at Southill by Marsh and Tatham. This firm began around 1785 with the partnership of of George Elward Marsh , joined 1793 by Edward Bailey and 1798 by Thomas Tatham and also became one of the most important and influential supplier of furnishings to the Prince of Wales for Carlton House and the Royal Pavilion at Brighton.
