A French Mythological Tapestry Portiere, possibly Beauvais, 18th century

woven with pendant frame enclosing standing female figure, possibly goddess Psyche, aside pedestal with cupid and floral swag en grisaille, surrounded by strapwork and trails of acanthus entwined foliate motifs, incorporating birds and addorsed winged lioness supports to tablet enclosing a landscape, and the caduceus and petasus, attributes of Mercury, all on a yellow ground 

Colours tonally fairly accurate colour match with the original. The tapestry is lined. There are old hoops attached along the top edge for hanging. It is recommended that Velcro be added for future hanging purposes. There are small repairs overall, which do not detract from the overall appearance. There are rewoven repairs to the head of the central standing figure and in the corners. There is an shaped section of repair half way down the left side, extending through the blue selvedge into the cream ground, it is blue in the selvedge, and a slightly more orange cream tone within the ground, as visible in the photograph. The lower edge and blue selvedge is later reweaving. Decorative panel, with balanced colour and composition overall.
