- 73cm, 28 3/4 in diameter
each applied with case openwork border incorporating scrolling vines, animals and masks, the centres engraved with a coat-of-arms and two crests surrouned by engraved scenes and scrolling foliage representing the seasons, signed 'G.R. Collis & Co. Artificers. Birmm', the undersides stamped 'G.R. COLLIS & CO. / MANUFACTURER/ CHURCH ST. BIRMM'
Provenance
The arms are those of Petre quartering Howard, Radcliffe, Walmesley and Glyn for Petre of Dunkenhalgh, Accrington, Lancashire, either for Henry William Petre (1791-1852) or his son, Henry Petre (1821-1900), descendants of Robert Edward, 9th Baron Petre (1742-1801).
