12-inch dial with mask and scroll spandrels, matted centre with seconds dial and date aperture, the upper corners with subsidiary strike/not strike and chime/not chime dials, the arch with a tune selection sector and signed on a recessed plaque John Meredith, London, within a painted floral surround, the movement with six knopped pillars, playing one of four tunes with twenty hammers on a nest of twelve bells and striking the hour on a further bell, the case with broken-arch top and brass flambeau finials, pierced foliate frets, stop-fluted hood pillars, the trunk door and panelled plinth inlaid with chequered stringing, the interior of the trunk door with an advertisement for John Meredith and his instructions for setting up and regulating a longcase clock

Dial is rather dirty, rings would benefit from re-silvering, painted flowers are very faded and with some losses, matting to centre very flat, good original hands, Movement needs a complete clean, service and overhaul, appears toretain original wheelwork throughout, strike/silent lever lacking. The case in generally good condition and with old cracks, scuffs and minor repairs throughout. With pendulum, three brass-cased weights, winder and two case keys.
