Description

  • Ebonised wood, enamel, brass
  • 64cm. 25¼in. high
6¾-inch dial with silvered metal spandrels, copper chapter ring, similar pierced centre, well cut steel hands and front-mounted putto pendulum, rectangular plated bell striking movement signed David Buschmann, Aug, the going train with fusee and chain and high mounted verge escapement, the strike with standing barrel, well pierced and engraved gates and numbered outside count wheel with steel pointer, the backplate mounted with pierced and engraved set up ratchet, the elaborate shaped case flanked by giltwood terms, overlaid throughout with pierced repousee silvered metal mounts and applied with four oval puce enamel plaques depicting religious scenes within deep red cut paste borders, a key drawer below

Condition

In generally good unrestored condition. Dial would benefit from silvering and cleaning. Movement appears to be complete but would beefit from a clean. Case with minor losses and will require cleaning and some restoration to gilding, back to case lacking. No winder.
