Condition
Some wear to the gilding and surface dirt generally and they would benefit from a light clean. On one the hoof foot and acorn and oak leaf branch on the base is loose and would benefit from tightening up. An acorn and triple oak leaf branch is broken off one, but it can easily be resoldered. Attractive model in need of a light clean.

Catalogue Note
This pair of wall-lights is a variant of a Louis XVI model by Gallien and Bureaux. The bronzier Pierre Bureaux (born 1728) purchased the inventory of the bronzier Edme Jean Gallien (1720-1797) on 6th February 1771, which referred to a pair of wall lights of this model.
A set of Empire wall-lights of this design in the Salon de Compagnie at Versailles, delivered by Galle for Versailles in 1809, illustrated by D. Ledoux-Lebard, Le Petit Trianon, Paris, 1989, p. 98.
