each painted around the exterior of the hemispherical body with a band of oak leaves and acorns between blue-ground and gilt foliate borders and raised on four ringed lion's mask and paw-molded legs on a flat concave-sided square base, the recessed cover with a gilt fountain-form knop, crowned interlaced L's, date letters PP and decorator's mark of script T.B. for Charles-Théodore Buteux in blue enamel.
Condition
Liners lacking. One cooler has a small flat chip to the side of the base at one corner and a repaired chip to another corner. The other has a minor small flat chip to the underside of the base at a corner. One cover has a minor small gilt-over rim chip. Both have some wear to the gilding, for the most part to the molded masks and paws, the rims where the covers sit and to the knops.
