the rectangular crossbanded top with outset rounded corners above a frieze drawer opening to a fitted interior with velvet-lined writing panel on ratchet support, over a pair cupboard doors with burr oval reserves, opening to an interior fitted with two tiers of drawers over a shelf, enclosed by outset fluted spiral-twist columns at front, on fluted ball feet. Lock stamped GR/BARRON/PATTON.
Condition
Overall good restored condition; surface with a light glossy finish; the top with slight warpage and with lifting to stringing in places with a small loss to stringing of left side; small traingular patch to veneer of back edge; the top front and right side with sun fading to veneers; the top left with small loss to stringing approximately 6 inches in length; velvet lining to book support possibly replaced and with minor losses; gilding to spiral columns probably later and with inpainting to ebonized surfaces; gilding to feet and ebonizing later; stringing to left door panel with lifting and minor losses at bottom; some shrinkage to door panels; some inpainting to oval yew wood panel of right door; slight warpage to drawers; right side panel with vertical age crack running the entire height of the side.
