A Regency brass-mounted mahogany breakfront secrétaire bookcase cabinet circa 1810

the molded cornice above break-fronted case fitted with a pair of cupboard doors with shaped mullions, flanked by doors, the projecting lower section with outset rounded corners above a secrétaire drawer with a leather-lined writing panel and pigeonholes above small drawers, all over a pair of cupboard doors opening to shelves, flanked by reeded tapering colonnettes headed by carved leaves, further flanked by drawers, on a molded plinth.  The back wth chalked number 343/1462.

Overall good restored condition; green damask silk lining to the back boards of upper section later; the whole case with a later French polish; the yupper section with some small nicks and chips to the edges of the doors; the central right door lacking brass keyhole escutcheon; the interior to the upper section with a later brown wash; the glazed doors appear to retain most of the original or old glass; one glass panel to the far left cabinet with two stable cracks; the lower section lacking its brass molding to the upper left side; lifting to the brass molding to top left drawer; leather lining replaced; secretaire drawer with chips and losses to the cockbeading especially to the upper edge; left door with replaced facing/veneer to the upper left corner notch; right cupboard door with replaced veneer/facing to the bottom left corner notch; some replacements to veneers of drawer dividers; the plinth base with old bruises and scuffs and with some inpainted and staining; overall with old marks, scratches, scuffs and bruises consistent with age and use.
