Description

of flattened baluster shape after an archaic bronze form, the shoulder carved with a taotie band above pendent stylized cicadas, flanked by chilong handles, the domed cover surmounted by a stepped finial, all raised on a splayed foot encircled by a band of lotus petals, the celadon stone graduated to brownish-white tone at the base, with chalky and russet inclusions throughout (2)

Condition

There is a very shallow 1/8 inch chip to the outter edge of the mouthrim. There are a few minor nicks and minute chips to the edges of the vase and cover. In overall very good condition. The piece is slightly darker than shown in the catalogue.
