  • cloisonne enamel on metal
later mounted in European gilt-bronze as a pair of two-branch candlelabra, each supported on the vase-form howdah comprising a central chinoiserie figure hitting a drum flanked by urn-form candle holders suspending pierced foliate pendants, each animal with its heads turned to one side, its white body with overall gilt wire detailing, caparisoned with multi-colored straps around the body and a blue ground saddlecloth with formal lotus motifs above a black-ground apron with lotus scrolls, all supported on an elaborate pedestal (2)
