- Ivory
of trapezoidal form, the exterior delicately incised with idyllic scenes of courting couples in gardens, the interior energetically carved with quatrefoil cartouches, one depicting a bored handmaiden waiting behind an outcrop of rocks as her mistress and a suitor frolic in the garden, the other showing a scholar in a studio at play with two ladies, all within an ornate border of dragons and 'flaming pearls' (2)
Condition
Both in good condition. One with a tiny hairline fracture on a thin section of reticulated carving. The other has a natural crack, visible on the left side of the bed.
