Description

  • JADE
carved in hexagonal section, with a ear-shaped handle and faceted spout, carved to the sides with shou characters and lotus, with lingzhi to the handle and spout, with a 'jinlian baoxiang' sealmark to the base

Condition

The wine pot has minute nibbles to the rim and spout and one tiny chip to the rim of the cover; the cover has been mounted with a gilt-bronze acorn and leaf finial; otherwise the wine pot and cover are in very good condition.

Catalogue Note

Jinlian baoxiang, or 'precious appearance of golden lotus' can either have a Buddhist connotation or refer to a beautiful woman, with golden lotus being often an expression for the small bound feet.
