Description

  • CLOISONNE
of compressed spherical form, cast with two large bronze chilong handles at the rim, the sides decorated with a wide band of scrolling lotus in red, green blue and yellow enamel on a turquoise ground,  incised mark to the base

Condition

The censer is in fair overall condition with the exception of a 4cm., diam., area of denting and loss to the enamel by the end of the tail of one chilong handle, and a similar larger section of partial loss and damage to the corresponding area of the other handle, several other small areas of loss to the enamel, extensive enamel shrinkage and pitting and small areas of re-touching to the enamel.
