Description

  • CLOISONNE ENAMEL
the compressed globular body raised on three large gilt-bronze lion mask and paw legs, brightly decorated around the exterior with fruit and lotus bands reserved on a rich turquoise ground, the later base with apocryphal Xuande six-character mark encircled by a pair of dragons 

Condition

The censer is in good overall condition with the exception of a 6 x 1cm. (max) area of restoration to the turquoise enamel close to one leg, minor characteristic pitting and shrinkage to the enamels, minor nibbles to the enamels around the legs and rubbing to the gilded rims.
