Description

  • Rhino Horn (diceros bicornis)
the bowl of tapering rectangular form, the exterior carved with a central band of archaic scrollwork, with a large and small sinuous chilong forming the handle,

Condition

This crisply carved cup is in good overall condition with the exception of loss to the foot, loss to a 5mm., wide section of carving on the upper handle, an old crack and minor loss to the chilong's body forming the handle, three short rim age cracks (8,9 and 25mm. long), minor nibbles at the rim and edges of the body, and light scratches.
