Description
carved with a shield-shaped body rising to a waisted neck, supported on a stand with a band of fretwork in openwork, decorated in the round with lotuses and daisies, all finely depicted in low relief, the vase flanked by a pair of openwork handles, each adorned with flowers, foliage and a loose ring, the fitted cover topped with a lotus finial, the translucent white stone of an even creamy tone

Acquired in Hong Kong in the 1970s.
Condition
With the exception of a 5cm natural vein running diagonally across from the shoulder to the waist, a 2x2.5mm patch of calcification to one side, a 0.5cm and a 0.2cm hairline fracture to the foot of the vase, a 2cm russet colour vein extending down from the top of the stand, and 3 hairline fractures on the lower edges of the stand, this piece is in very good condition. Please note that the stone is of a slightly more celadon tone than illustrated in the catalogue.
