Description

the deep rounded sides rising from a short straight foot to a wide everted rim, finely painted in rich cobalt-blue tones around the exterior with scholars in a rocky landscape, one group examining a scroll painting, another playing a qin as two sit beside a large stack of books, all beneath a band of cloud scrolls at the rim, the interior with a scholar seated on an old gnarled branch amidst a lake, encircled at the rim by a prunus and cracked-ice band, the base with an apocryphal mark of Jiajing

Condition

Sections of the rim are retouched with over-paint, with the largest section measuring approximately 5 cm. There are a few firing cracks to the underside, including a small one together with a minor bruise to the footring. Apart from some scattered pinholes, the overall condition is good.
