Description
each scroll of yellow silk woven with full-frontal five-clawed dragons, wrapping their sinuous bodies around 'flaming pearls', leaping amidst swirling clouds, framed by a border of yellow dragons clutching 'flaming pearls' against a blue ground, the edges further adorned with patterned fabric, all mounted on paper, the backing paper of one scroll bearing the text Qianlong ershiqi nian Lianghuai gong juan ('Tribute Silk from Lianghuai to the Imperial Court in the 27th Year of the Qianlong Reign') corresponding to 1762
Condition
The silk scrolls are in overall very good condition except for minor wear and foxing. The actual colour is lighter than the catalogue illustration.
