the square top supported on ruyi pierced rectangular panels, resting on four tapering cabriole legs on ball feet, joined by a shaped rounded apron with scalloped edges, all on a low base with a waisted frieze of further pierced panels, the black-lacquered surface finely inlaid in lustrous mother-of-pearl with a square panel enclosing a scene of an equestrian and foot procession through a group of pavilions, reserved on a composite floral scroll ground with cash-diaper filled ruyi panels in the spandrels, the top of the stand similarly decorated with figures in a square panel, the legs, apron, pierced sides and base with further floral scrolls and geometric bands
Provenance
A Japanese Collection.
Condition
The overall condition is quite good. The mother-of-pearl remains mostly intact, but there are some areas of loss. The lacquer is also in very good condition with minor areas of loss. Very little restoration has been done to the stand. Some of the areas are covered with a little bit of varnish or glue to stablize the surface. A few of legs has been stablized at the joint with the table top with some glue.
