Description

each lobed rectangular body finely cast and chased to each side with leafy lotus strapwork reserved on a ring-punched ground, the broad everted lobed rim inset with a celadon jade and edged with a keyfret band, all raised on four elephant-head legs, the domed lobed cover inset with hardstone bats and wan symbols all reserved on a pierced gilt cloud scroll ground, surmounted by a carved and pierced jade floral finial

Condition

Some of the stones have fallen out and have been replaced, but it appears to be less than 10%. The original lapis pieces have a matte finish, while the replacements have a glossier finish. The gold is in very good condition. The leather box has some wear to the exterior, with a 3 cm section of the rim of the cover at one of the latches broken and restuck, and chips along the base of the box.
